Thomas A. Campbell Reservoir and Pumping Station
Once water has been treated or has gone through the delivery system, it's pumped uphill to reservoirs.
High-power pumps at pumping stations force water through the transmission lines, usually at night when the cost of power is less. Pump stations also move water from reservoirs at lower elevations to those at higher elevations. The Las Vegas Valley Water District (LVVWD) has 51 pumping stations in the service area.
Reservoirs store the water until it's needed. LVVWD has 36 reservoirs that can hold more than 800 million gallons of water. Gravity delivers water from the reservoir to your home or business.
As the Water District builds and renovates facilities, we try to work with the community as much as possible to make our buildings blend in with their surroundings.
Efforts have included installing water-efficient landscaping and developing parks around facilities, as well as consulting with residents and appropriate government agencies. Our goal is to make our facilities blend in with their environment.
